I’ve been keeping track of my MINI’s MPG by using the gallons filled and miles driven for two tanks now, and the numbers are not looking too good. Both tanks were around 19 mpg. I guess it’s either I’m a big lead foot, or I’m doing something wrong.

I sometimes run with the windows down and AC off, and sometimes windows up and AC on. I do that about half and half, with windows down at low speeds. Maybe I’ll try and keep the windows up for this whole tank and see what happens.

Also, with a quick measure of tire pressures, it seems they are at 32 psi cold. I’ll bring it up to maybe 36-37 psi range today and see if that’ll help. Yes, the ride will be rougher, but hey I did pick the MINI.

Oh, another improvement would be easying off the gas a bit and run at lower speeds. I’ll try that, but all you MINI owners out there know how hard it is to do that.
